Laser Hair Removal
LASER HAIR REMOVAL
Laser hair removal (LHR) has become a popular and efficient way to get rid of unwanted body hair, but does it actually work? Have you always wanted to do something about it but questioned the effectiveness of available treatment options?
Come and see the team here at ilu, where we can address your hair removal and skin rejuvenation concerns (in most cases permanently), cost-effectively and painlessly using the Eclipse Triple Diode LHR system enabling peace of mind. Please note that new hair follicles can be produced by the body. This is why we recommend a follow-up session every few years to optimise the end result.
Pregnancy and menopause can influence the formation of new hairs in unwanted areas like the face and neck. Conditions like endometriosis and polycystic ovaries can play a huge part so a full consultation is vital to ensure efficient treatment.
Our machine, the Eclipse Diode, which uses triple wave SHR technology for virtually pain free hair removal on the majority of skin types.
SHR stands for Super Hair Removal, and is a relatively new technology for the permanent removal of hair which is receiving amazing reviews. The system combines laser technology and the benefits of the pulsating light method achieving practically painless results. Even hairs which until now have been difficult or even impossible to be removed, can now be treated. The “In Motion” represents a breakthrough in permanent hair removal with light technology. The treatment is more pleasant than with the conventional systems and your skin is much better protected.
The sweeping technique of moving the applicator repeatedly over the treatment area ensures full coverage while the MAX cooling system cools the skin surface preventing superficial burns and allowing for virtually pain-free, yet highly effective hair removal. SHR can even reduce visible wrinkles, due to its collagen-boosting effects.
Until now hair had to be treated during the growing phase (20%-30%). In the telogen phase stem cells are in the resting phase but can still successfully be treated with the LHR system. Since growth cycles vary, approximately 8 treatments are usually necessary. This varies depending on consultation, goals and concerns.
Treatment is practically painless, compared to treatment with conventional IPL devices. The sweeping technique of moving the applicator repeatedly over the treatment area gives full coverage while the MAX cooling system cools the skin surface, preventing superficial burns and allowing for virtually pain-free, yet highly effective hair removal.
The Eclipse Diode uses 3 laser wavelength:
755nm, this is effective for most blonde and fine hair.
810nm, the golden standard wavelength for most hair types.
- 1064nm, effective for dark and tanned skin.
The light energy is absorbed by the pigment located in the hair shaft and follicle and is then transformed into heat energy acting simultaneously on the hair’s anatomy: the hair bulge, bulb and papilla raising the temperature destroying the cells responsible for regrowth. the destroyed material is then absorbed by the body in a natural process.
The hair growth cycle and the interval between treatments should correspond, requiring spacing of approximately 3-4 weeks.
At least 1 week before the first treatment, intense sun exposure or solarium visits should be avoided.
Hairs should not be waxed or plucked less than 6 weeks before treatment. Shaving is permitted at any time. Areas to be treated should ideally be shaved one day before the scheduled appointment.
If you are currently on the medication Ro-accutane or similar or have been in the past 6 months, please let us know before each treatment session. This medication can make your skin more susceptible to damage from the treatment.
After your treatment, the area is cleansed and you can return to your normal activities immediately. Slight reddening and local swelling of the skin, similar to sunburn, may occur in some patients. These effects typically last no more than 24 hours.
The skin’s natural protection is somewhat weakened after this intense light treatment. Therefore, a high level of UV protection (30-50) in the form of a sunscreen lotion should be applied for about 1 week. Our organic sunscreen can be purchased post treatment.
After 1-5 weeks hair will fall out. Shaving is possible any time, but hair should not be plucked. Keep the area clean. Wash gently with tepid water. Avoid the use of any possible skin irritant on the face such as the stimulant creams (Retin-A, Retinova, Glycolic Cream), Benzoyl perioxide or astringents. If the area appears red or shows any signs of tenderness, apply a soothing cream, which can be supplied. If you experience any persistent irritation or notice weeping, broken skin, blistering or pigmentation changes following the treatment it is essential that you contact us as soon as you can.
